TWO THINGS

Please click on my title to redirect to larger congress website. TWO THINGS The war and immigration; in that order. This so-called war-occupation-corporate banquet; is a frustration to all people who have served in the military and have folks in uniform now. The two Bush daughters have declared no proclivity to serve even a window dressing role. It makes me want to hurl. There is nothing like making the poor fight your battles to make people cynical. Of course this is the status quo whether there is a draft or not. We have not heard anything realistic about the territory we are holding overseas. Either we are going to stay come hell or high water or we are going to leave at some undetermined day in the future. Just like VietNam. Then as now there are friendlies in-country to make the whole thing palatible to the camera. It is however a big deal in their religion for non Muslims to rule over them. Political power grows from the barrel of a gun; Democracy is not so easily grafted onto the sores of this world no matter where they be. A nation arising from the hell of Hussein's rule is a case in point. We were Saddam's paymaster for too many years. The killing that has been done in that country has been done with our bombs and bullets or the US Government's tacit approval. The "moral leadership" of the United States is a study in mass narcissism. It is incredible to think that with the wealth our nation is able to move we are unable to make peace with the Muslim world. "It takes money to make anything work". Times-Discovery Channel documentary on UBL, a Sudanese man talking. WE dropped the ball years before 9/11 when we refused to cooperate with Sudan. This was not an intelligence failure. It was meanness. Mean in the sense that the "only superpower" in the world would cast away offered help. We need a bigger congress and less gerrymandering. Immigration is suddenly a big deal because a few people open their yaps about it. I was watching the NBA finals last night and saw the US and Canada flags displayed at the arena. No Mexican Flag is displayed. With NAFTA it seems all we have procured from south of the border is more cheap labor. Their is nothing wrong with our present immigration law. The so-called illegal immigrants are not trying to become Ameican; they are economic refugees from a country whose government seems perpetually bent on stealing from their people. Any correction of the status quo must come about in Mexico. Leave our laws alone-not everything can be legislated. We need a bigger congress and no gerrymandering.
